By the time you finish reading this, you may be considered an old time stamp collector or how I would like to call it: a stamp enthusiast. Most stamp enthusiasts have collect stamps as a hobby because they have been interested in them for a very long time. However, what you do not know about stamp collecting is that once you take a closer look at the stamp, in a snap, you'll get interested.

You may not know this so let me tell you a secret. Stamp collecting can be very mesmerizing and fulfilling. It may look boring but if you have not tried stamp collecting, who are you to judge am I right? So, lets begin by tellin you the basic needs to start your collection.

The first step is to get the stamps. So, how do you get the stamps? Well, simple. You can purchase a large packet of stamps. You can get these stamps at bookstores or if you prefer, you can get it from a ship where they sell all the collector's stamps. However, it may be costly. If you do not intend to splurge money on your new found hobby, you may remove stamps from packages. This will give you a head start in your stamp collection.

You may be thinking of ways or even boxes to store your stamps. But wait. All you need is an album with hinges. Why can't you just paste the stamps on the album or even paste in on a cardboard. Let me tell you the secret of having hinges. By having hinges, it allows you stamps enthusiasts to classify and rearrange your stamps by any way you like in future, when your collection gets bigger.

The next thing you need is a magnifying glass and a stamp tong. A magnifying glass is important as you may not be able to see the fine prints and fine details of a stamp with your naked eyes. Therefore, you need a magnifying glass to take a closer look at them. Stamp tongs usually have rounded tips. You should avoid handling the stamps with your bare hands as this may cause the oil from your skin to damage the stamp.

You should also make sure that once all your stamps are in an album, it is still no considered safe. This is because there are always natural disasters like flood and fire. The safest possible to keep your album is by keeping them in a polythene packet so that they do not get wetted by water.

Stamp collecting can be very simple but it requires a lot pf patience from the collector. It may not be easy collecting vintage stamps and it may be quite difficult for beginners to learn how to grade a stamp. Even some long time stamp enthusiasts get it wrong. So, do not worry about it. You are not alone.
